Get set for Christmas with live entertainment and a fireworks extravaganza at Manchester Christmas Lights Switch on, starting at 7.30pm on Friday November 4th.
Thousands of people are expected to flock to this free event in Albert Square which will feature a host of entertainment for all the family.
The winner of last year’s X-Factor competition, Louisa Johnson, will perform live. Appearing on Clean Bandit’s hit single, Tears, Louisa is currently working on her debut album which is due for release in December.
Local musician JP Cooper, has grown a loyal fan base through relentless touring in past years. His debut EP, out on Island Records, with a blend of soulful songs and stunning vocals, has already earned him a sell-out nationwide tour.
MOBO-Nominated trio M.O (Modus Operandi) will bring R&B-tinged garage attitude to Albert Square.
Mancunian comic legend John Thomson – who is reprising his role in Cold Feet on television as well as starring in Panto in Aladdin at the Opera House – will be there.
And performers from feel-good ballet musical Billy Elliot – playing at the Palace Theatre from 29 November – will be there to add to the fun.
This year’s show will be hosted by Key 103’s Mike Toolan and Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent and Paddy McGuinness.
And, last but not least, the night will be topped off by a spectacular fireworks display.
Manchester’s Christmas Lights Switch On event is free to attend but remember that, once Albert Square, is full access to the area will be restricted. There will also be a number of road closures on the night.
Cllr Pat Karney, Manchester’s Christmas spokesperson, said: “As always the Switch-On show promises something for everyone during an evening of high-energy entertainment and I hope to see as many families there as possible soaking up the atmosphere and welcoming the festive season in Manchester.”
