John Lowry
I first got involved with WFM as a RSL (Restricted Service
Licence) 28 day broadcast after I heard the Irish tones of
Irene Laurance. She was one of the other presenters doing
her show. Irene was asked if she fancied doing an Irish Show,
as at the time she was hosting a classical show with Dave
Dale on a Sunday. I was invited to a meeting with Irene Laurance,
Jason Kenyon and Christine Brennan at WFM and shortly after
this The Irish Connection was born.
I
have always been into radio one way or the another. I first
started in hospital radio, at TOC-H in Longsight, going around
the wards getting requests for the patients as some people
in hospital don't get too many visitors, so it was good to
see someone coming in for a chat and playing a request to
cheer them up. I have been invloved in quite a few RSL radio
stations over the years and now here at WFM. I think WFM is
a great way to learn Media Studies, do interviews with interesting
people and give something back to the community.

What has being a part of WFM meant to you?
It's a great way to talk to people on a one to one basis,
meet them and get their views on life.
