The Bigger Breakfast with Ray Degg
Hello! I’m Ray Degg and I do the breakfast show on a Tuesday morning 7-10am. My show is very fast paced with traffic and travel news and interviews with anyone from celebrities to politicians. I have many competitions with amazing prizes and I play a variety of music from the 1960’s to the present, one of my features being three in a row songs from the 50’s and 60’s. I also involve unsigned bands and artists and allow them to play an acoustic session on my show.
I have been working in radio for 37 years; I started working just after the pirates and was very influenced by Johnny Walker and Kenny Everett, starting at BBC radio Blackburn as a gofer moving to BFBS (British forces broadcasting services) and on to local radio in the UK. Having completed the BJTC qualification (Broadcast Journalism Training Course) I now concentrate mainly on interviews and journalism.
On my show I have chaired debates on topics of the day, which gave listeners the chance to express their views and allow their voice to be heard, this has proved popular with my listeners!
Community radio is very much “by the people, for the people” and I try not to make it a pseudo radio 1 show, with topics of interest for the people of the great town of Wythenshawe.
