Drivetime with Chris Oatway

Chris has been hosting the Wednesday Drivetime for the past 4 and a half years, arranging and conducting at least two interview each week, with well-known personalities, as well as bands from the northwest and members of the community.

Born and bred in Baguley/Wythenshawe, he helped with the production of a radio station at his secondary school (Sale High Soundzzz). He then completed the ‘Developing Skills for Community Radio (DSCR)’ course and began co-presenting an 11-12 slot on Wednesday mornings. Now, after presenting over 150 shows, he is growing his fan-base through attending press nights for local and national theatres, interviewing at concerts and gigs and interacting with his listeners on Facebook and Twitter (@djchrisoatway).

As well as presenting, Chris is a keen performer appearing in musical theatre shows across Manchester and presenting discos and karaoke for family events. He is a volunteer of the Lesbian and Gay Foundation and helps with cover and outside broadcasts for ALL FM’s ALL OUT show (alternate Saturdays, 11am-1pm). He is also involved with the setting up of North Cheshire’s forthcoming radio station “Trafford Sound”, a member of Macclesfield Lions Club and an active promoter of many other organisations.

As well as interviews, his magazine-style show is a mix of great music, features, chat and the odd TV, theatre and cinema guide thrown in. He keeps you up to date with the Weather report for those of you on your way home from work.

So if you like the sound of this, why not join Chris Oatway every Wednesday 5-7pm for the Wednesday Drivetime on your local community radio station, Wythenshawe FM 97.2!
