  • GMYN’s Volunteer Infrastructure Project – (VIP) – offers bespoke packages of support to organisations across the city of Manchester to aid them in their involvement of volunteers in young people’s settings. They are now offering a short introductory training event about youth work volunteering on 19th November. This is a free event and light refreshments will be provided.   • Help recreate Wythenshawe as The Garden City next spring by planting bulbs in Northenden and Baguley. The bulbs are provided – just turn up between 2 and 4 at any of these venues – on Saturday 15th Nov. at either – Hall Lane, Floats Hall Road, or Haybrook Road, all in Baguley. On Saturday 22nd Nov. at either – Johannasburg Gardens, Greenbrow Road or Chalford Road

  • It’s that Movember time of year again. Movember is now a highly successful international campaign to raise awareness about men’s health, particularly prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and the importance of physical activity. The moustache is the badge – much like the pink ribbon is the badge for Breast Cancer Awareness.
    You can get involved by visiting uk.movembe.com or Movember UK on Facebook to see what the Mo brothers and sista’s are up to this year. Encourage the men you know to grow some facial hair – and sponsor them. Then donate monies raised to Movember UK.

This is not your usual Jumble Sale – although there are unusual bargains to be picked up – there’s a café and the chance to have a superb monthly communityevent for all the family. This consultation is part of the Council’s work with the NHS and other agencies to address changes in the law affecting the care and support needs of adults.   • Connect Support is a registered charity giving help and support to relatives and carers dealing with mental illness. For the over 50’s there is Moorside Community Hub where you can find: Northenden Healthy Living Group, The Tuesday Club, Moorside Residents Group, The Thursday Club, The Generation Project, Connect Support and South Manchester Arthritis Support Group.   • Wythenshawe Oasis and Manchester Advice Alliance are setting up access points, where people will be able to use computers for free with the support of trained volunteers, to make their benefit claims and find information online……Volunteers are needed …..and they will get free training, so if you would like to be one, you must to be able to offer 3 hours per week and have good computer skills. The access point will be open Tuesday and Thursday 10am till 1pm at St Andrews House.
