Talented musicians from Wythenshawe have a chance to apply for jobs with Greater Manchester Police Male Voice Choir.

The hunt is on for a musical director and a deputy accompanist for the choir which was founded in 1974. They are looking for a deputy accompanist, with previous experience, and a musical director who is able to play the piano and to help in the training and conducting of the 40 choir members.

The popular choir takes bookings up to a year in advance and has helped raise thousands of pounds for charities like Scope, The Rainbow Trust and various cancer research charities, as well as local schools and churches.  The choir also regularly performs throughout the north of England and travels further a field in the UK and Europe for concerts and festivals.

The choir’s members are made up of serving and retired police officers, police staff and the general public.  Rehearsals are held at the Training Centre in Prestwich every Thursday evening between 7.30pm and 9.45pm.

Interviews for the post will be held in June with a view to the appointment commencing on 5 July 2012.  The deadline for applications is Thursday, 17 May 2012.
