Wythenshawe voters will head to the polling stations on Thursday this week to elect a Mayor for Greater Manchester
Voters in Manchester, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan will make their choice from eight candidates who are bidding to become the region’s first elected Mayor.
The Mayor will replace the interim Mayor and Police and Crime Commissioner, Tony Lloyd.
From May 8th 2017, the newly-elected Mayor will head a cabinet in the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) consisting of the ten leaders of ten Greater Manchester councils.
The Mayor’s powers and responsibilities will include transport, planning, housing, the fire service and policing.
WFM 97.2 presenter, Ben Cooper, who hosts The Forum on Mondays from 10-11am, carried out in-depth interviews with the candidates and explored their policies, values and how they say they will improve the region if elected Mayor of Greater Manchester.
