New plans for a community outreach library in Northenden

Northenden Libraries

Residents in Northenden will have access to library services in their community thanks to a new partnership between Manchester Libraries and the ‘Wythenshawe Community Housing Group’.

The community outreach facility will house a small collection of books with customers being able to reserve and collect using the e-library. There will also be access to number of PCs with Internet access.  We will be continuing to provide a programme of library activities such as story times.

The outreach facility will be within Wythenshawe Community Housing Group’s offices on Palatine Road.

Councillor Rosa Battle, Executive Member for Culture and Leisure said: “We are very pleased to have secured a positive solution for Northenden residents. We have listened to the community to ensure that residents have access to library facilities in a central location in their area. We have worked closely with Wythenshawe Community Housing Group to deliver this”.

“We will also be working closely with the community and our partners to make this outreach facility a success and we envisage volunteers helping out when it is up and running.”

Nigel Wilson, Chief Executive from Wythenshawe Community Housing Group said:” WCHG is delighted to provide facilities that enable the local community to have access to book lending services and see this as a natural extension of our work with the community.”
