It’s been difficult to spend a penny in Northenden of late – following the closure of public toilets in Mill Lane. A wave of Manchester City Council cuts this year has
also seen public toilets closed at Wythenshawe Civic Centre and Hollyhedge Road shops.
But now Northenden residents are looking forward to the prospect of opening up and running their toilets themselves after the Friends of Northenden Riverside Park group was given £7,912.
The cash was awarded by public vote at a U Decide meeting where residents themselves were able to allocate a pot of nearly £40,000 of funding to different community groups after hearing presentations from them.
The Friends of Northenden Riverside Park will now submit a business plan for approval before taking over the running of the toilet.
