First performed at Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre in 1877 as The Lake of Swans, the ballet tells the story of Odette, a young princess who is turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer and can only be saved by her prince’s everlasting love and eternal devotion, overcoming the forces conspiring to deceive and separate them. Today Swan Lake continues to capture the imagination of its audience and inspire both young and old with its beautiful love story.
