BANK OF DAVE THE MUSICAL -Review by Tre Tre

BANK OF DAVE the MUSICAL. REVIEW BY TRÉTRÉ - THE LOWRY, LYRIC THEATRE. MEDIA CITY, SALFORD - 2ND -16TH MAY 2026.

Chuffing hell, after 2 successful Netflix movies, and a documentary, now it was press night for the world premiere of BANK OF DAVE: THE MUSICAL, at The Lowry’s Lyric Theatre, and it was absolutely phenomenal.
I’ve been to plenty of press nights during my 14 years in Broadcasting, Media and Entertainment, but this one was something special. The place was packed — celebrities, special guests, and a whole lot of excitement buzzing through the air.
This was an exaggerated version of Dave Fishwick's true(ish) life story.Dave made a dramatic entrance into The Lowry,  It wasn’t quite the helicopter he promised (it definitely wouldn’t have fit!), but he still arrived in true Dave style: rolling up in his trademark battle bus, accompanied by a rocking brass band that turned his arrival into a full‑on moment.
The red carpet was out, and a swarm of photographers were jostling for the best shots — props flying, flashes popping, glorious organised chaos. And I loved every second of it.
The humour throughout the show was absolutely spot on and impeccably timed. The explicit language wasn’t just welcomed — it was essential. After all, they’re Northerners, I'm a northerner, and we're very very proud! "B@st@rd Bankers" came up ALOT!! HILARIOUS!
The local accents were spot‑on. Honestly, they were so perfect I couldn’t tell whether they were natural or brilliantly acted.
And the set design… on another level entirely. The way they incorporated video and photo stills along the sides and the back of the stage created a whole world around the performance. It looked and felt incredible.
The music, singing, and dancing were an entertaining mix of rock, reggae, rap, and old‑time cabaret. Sam Lupton, who played Dave, and Hayley Tamaddon as Nikki — Dave’s wife — were nothing short of sensational. Their resemblance to the real‑life pair was so uncannily accurate it genuinely felt like the real people had stepped onto the stage. It was honestly jaw‑dropping.
The entire cast sang and danced with such effortless flair that it was impossible not to be swept up in it all. Every performer brought something vibrant and exciting, and the chemistry across the board made the whole production feel alive. Truly brilliant casting from top to bottom.
And the dancing piggies? We were completely mesmerised. They were hilarious, adorable, and absolutely stole the show. The Rich Boys Club ensemble were just as unforgettable — wild, cheeky, and an absolute riot from start to finish. They had the audience roaring.
Everyone in the audience had a fantastic time. Laughter, cheers, and whistles bounced around the auditorium, and the standing ovation at the end said it all. The energy was off the scale.
I must say, if you are easily offended by bad language, then this performance IS definitely not for you.
I won’t spoil the fun by giving too much away.  Just go along, and have a ball, You won't be disappointed.
